تم إجراء بعض التغييرات في تنسيق المسابقة لهذا العام نظرًا للجدول الزمني المكثف. تم تقليص عدد الفرق المشاركة إلى 16 فريقًا من خلال الدور التمهيدي، حيث تأهلت فرق غزل المحلة وحرس الحدود.
تم تحديد مباريات دور الـ 16 من خلال القرعة، مما حدد المسار الذي ستسلكه المسابقة حتى النهائي.
تم تحديد مباريات دور ربع النهائي أيضًا لتُلعب بعد دور الـ 16 خلال فترة التوقف الدولي في مارس [[1](https://al-ain.com/article/egyptian-league-cup-games-dates-channels)].
لا يزال من المقرر إقامة مباريات نصف النهائي، ومن المتوقع أن يواجه الفائز من مباراة سيراميكا والاتحاد السكندري فريق مصر المقاصة في النهائي.
